The Australian Society for Music Education (ASME) is the peak professional body for music educators in Australia. Established in 1967, ASME aims to encourage and guide the development of music education at all levels across all Australian states and territories, representing classroom teachers, studio instructors, tertiary researchers, and community musicians.

  • National ASME Conferences: Organizes major biennial national conferences that serve as a central hub for professional development, pedagogical research presentation, and networking in Australia.
  • Australian Journal of Music Education (AJME): Publishes a highly respected, peer-reviewed journal focused on regional and international music research, curriculum policy, and pedagogical practice.
  • National advocacy and Curriculum Input: Actively consults with government education bodies on the development and implementation of the Australian Curriculum: The Arts.
  • State and Territory Chapters: Operates active regional chapters providing local workshops, masterclasses, curriculum support, and advocacy networks across Australia.
