by Google Creative Lab

From the Chrome Music Lab website:

Chrome Music Lab is a web-based portal containing a collection of playful, interactive experiments that make learning music more accessible through hands-on play. Perfect for elementary and middle school classrooms, it allows students to visualize and manipulate the building blocks of music without any software installation or login.

  • Song Maker: A simple grid-based composer that allows students to write melodies and drum tracks, play back their creations, and share them instantly via custom links.
  • Rhythm: An animated sequencer where adorable characters beat drums, woodblocks, and triangles to help students explore subdivisions and patterns.
  • Chords: A virtual piano keyboard that displays the harmonic structure of major and minor triads as students click on keys.
  • Kandinsky: An artistic experiment that transforms students’ drawings into musical tones, linking visual art directly to sound composition.
  • Voice Spinner: An interactive sound editing tool that allows students to record their voice and spin a dial to play it back fast, slow, or in reverse.
